Morard wins 3rd-straight State Women’s Stroke play title

Ehrhart wins Senior Amateur Championship

MONTGOMERY – Michaela Morard of Huntsville turned the 32nd Alabama Women’s Stroke Play Championship into a runaway win at Wynlakes Golf and Country Club.

Morard, coming off a strong season at the University of Southern California, shot 70 in the final round of the 54-hole women’s stroke play event to settle for a 12-shot win. Her three-day total was 4-under-par 212. She had the only two under-par rounds in the tournament, firing 70 in the first round as well.

It was the third consecutive victory in the tournament for Morard, who increased her Alabama Golf Association tournament wins to 10.

Ashley-Sinclair Curtis of Enterprise closed her tournament with an even-par 72 to net a second-place finish. Her 54-hole total was 8-over-par 224.

Emilia Smith of Enterprise closed the tournament with a 76 to finish third. Her three-day total was 11-over 227. Ally Williams of Brownsboro was fourth at 230. 

Ehrhart wins Senior Amateur Championship

Birmingham’s Patricia Ehrhart shot a 2-under 70 in the final round to secure the 49th Alabama Women’s State Senior Amateur Championship title. Ehrhart posted a four-under 212 overall.

Erhart was under par in all three rounds, opening with consecutive rounds of 71.

Kathy Hartwiger of Birmingham couldn’t close the gap on Erhart and settled for second place with a 71 in the final round to finish at 218. Susan West of Tuscaloosa posted an even-par 72 for the round to stand third, carding an 11-over 227 overall.

Hoover’s Melanie Smith finished at fourth at 243.

Senior Flight winners were Lori Holibaugh of Foley, who won the First Flight with a two-round 151; Toni Aila of Ozark (84-255) won the Second Flight; Candy Mitchell of Springville (81-258) won the Third Flight; Jana Hudson (90-276 won Fourth Flight.
