Holes in One

Alabama Golf News is happy to publish a list of players who make holes in one on Alabama golf courses, as well as recognize older players who shoot their age.

To ensure accuracy, we publish information on each achievement we receive from someone associated with the course  (name@golfclub.com).

To have an achievement published, email us the player's name, the date, the hole on the course, the yardage, the club used and whether it is the player’s first, second or fifth, etc..

If there are any other unusual or pertinent facts you think we should know, send them along as well.

The Latest Holes in One, People Who Shot Their Age

Ben Mansell aced No. 7, a 135-yard par 3 at Blackberry Trail, with a 7-iron.

Jr. Witt aced No. 13, a 116-yard par 3 at Blackberry Trail, with an 8-iron.

 
 

Jim Glock aced No. 15 at Blackberry Trail from 128 yards with a 9-iron.

Terry Willingham made a hole in one on No. 13, a 109-yard par 3 at Blackberry Trail.

JT McLemore aced No. 7 from 102 yards at Blackberry Trail with an 8-iron.

Perry Young aced No. 2, 3 at Blackberry Trail Golf Course from 140 yards with an 8-iron on Oct. 5.

Clay Kelley scored a hole-in-one on No. 5 of Gunter’s Landing on July 17 with an 8-iron. It was his his 7th.

Gregg Dewalt, while playing with Kelley, aced the 5th hole at Gunter’s Landing with a 7iron moments later. It was his 6th ace. (See story HERE)

Zach Cooper scored a rare double eagle when his 3-wood from 226 yards found the hole on No. 8 at Blackberry Trail.

J.T. McClemore aced No. 13, a 118-yard par 3 at Blackberry Trail, with a 9-iron

Lewis Pratt aced No. 2, a 98-yard par 3, at Blackberry Trail. He used a 9-iron.

Johnny Richardson aced No. 7, a 118-yard par 3 at Blackberry Trail, It was his ninth career ace.

Don Miller scored an ace on the 15th hole at Blackberry Trail on Feb, 7, with a 9-iron from 112 yards.

Dale Nesbitt made his 31st hole-in-one on Aug. 7, 2022 when he aced No. 7, a 138-yard par 3 with an 8-iron at Cypress Lakes Golf Course. 

Corey Snipes aced No. 5, a 104-yard par 3, with a sand wedge, at Cypress Lakes Golf Course.

Corey Rochelle aced No. 15, a 152-yard par 3 at Blackberry Trail, during the Florence Open golf tournament on Aug. 6.

Bailey Harrison used a 5-iron to ace No. 7, a 105-yard par 3 at Blackberry Trail for her first career hole-in-one on July 28.

Kim Beckham scored her first hole-in-one with a gap wedge from 84 yards on No. 2 at Blackberry Trail.

Chuck Stansell aced No. 13, a 129-yard par 3 at Blackberry Trail, with a pitching wedge.

Robert Crittenden made his third hole-in-one on No. 15 at Blackberry Trail Golf Course, using a pitching wedge from 105 yards.

Feb. 10, 2022 – Chris Ross recorded a hole-in-one on No. 2 at Blackberry Trail Golf Course, using a 7-iron from 152 yards. It was his second ace on the hole.

Tyler Nelson aced the par 3, 123-yard 5th hole at Cypress Lakes with a gap wedge. 

Maggie Frederick, a team member of the Mars Hill Bible girls golf team, scored a hole-in-one on No. 2, an 84-yard par 3, at Blackberry Trail Golf Course. She used a pitching wedge. It was her first.

Don Robinson made a hole-in-one with a pitching wedge on No. 13, a 106-yard par 3, at Blackberry Trail Golf Course.

December 22, 2021 – Dennis Hooten made his first hole-in-one on No. 7 at Blackberry Trail. He used a 7-iron from 1

December 15, 2021 – B.J. Mayfield made the first ace of his career when he holed a pitching wedge on No. 13 from 132 yards at Blackberry Trail.

November 10, 2021 – John Washko made his first hole-in-one. acing No. 7 at Blackberry Trail. Washko used an 8-iron on the 109-yard hole.

JT McLemore aced No. 7 from 102 yards at Blackberry Trail with an 8-iron.

September 24, 2021 – Carol Davis aced No. 15 at Blackberry Trail with a pitching wedge from 75 yards. It was her third ace on the 15th hole in the past six months.

September 13, 2021 – Fred Boughner aced No. 13, a 126-yard par 3 at Blackberry Trail with a pitching wedge. It was his ninth hole in one.

September 10, 2021 – James Fortenberry aced No. 2, a 107-yard par 3 at Blackberry Trail Golf Course. He used a pitching wedge.

September 5, 2021 – Chad Steele made a hole-in-one on No. 13 at Blackberry Trail. He used a 9-iron on the 144-yard hole.

July 20, 2021 – Brad Mayfield recorded a double eagle at Blackberry Trail, holing out from 226 yards.

July 2, 2021 – Carol Davis collected two holes-in-one of the same hole at Blackberry Trail in a nine-week span. Davis aced No. 15 from 85 yards on April 25 and again from 75 yards on July 2. She used a pitching wedge for both shots.

June 29, 2021 – Jack Halverson aced No. 2 at Blackberry Trail Golf Course from 107 yards with a gap wedge.

June 2021 – Jason Pratt aced No. 13, a 141-yard par 3 at Greystone Golf Club’s Legacy course. He used a 9-iron, It was his third career ace and first in 20 years. 

June 19, 2021 – Phil Stevenson of Florence aced No. 2 at Blackberry Trail with a pitching wedge from 110 yards.

May 31, 2021 – Tim Love aced the 15th hole at Blackberry Trail with a 5-iron from 142 yards.

Seth Terrell made a hole-in-one on No. 17 of Ol’ Colony in Tuscaloosa. He used a pitching wedge from 178 yards.

May 1 – John Gentle made a hole-in-one on No. 7 at Blackberry Trail during the Steve Mayfield Memorial Tournament. Gentle used an 8-iron on the 136-yard hole.

April 22 – Julia Broughner of Florence aced the 13th hole at Blackberry Trail Golf Course from 101 yards. It was her first.

April 16, 2021 – Bobby Hatcher made a hole-in-one on No. 8 at FarmLinks in Sylacauga on April 16. Hatcher used a 4-iron from 198 yards for his first ace.

April 6, 2021 – Chris Chrisman of Muscle Shoals aced the 109-yard seventh hole at Blackberry Trail Golf Course with a gap wedge.

April 6, 2021 –Gary Craig of Florence holed out from 118 yards on No. 7 at Blackberry Trail Golf Course with a pitching wedge.

Feb. 9, 2021 – Hillard South aced No. 5 at Cypress Lakes Golf and Tennis Club in Muscle Shoals twice in an 11-day span. South made both aces using a utility iron. His first ace came on Jan. 29. The second came on Feb. 9.

Tony Rutledge made a hole-in-one on No. 18 at Tennessee Valley Country Club, using a 5-hybrid.

Jan. 14, 2021 – Andy Krenkel made a hole-in-one on No. 12 at NorthRiver Yacht Club in Tuscaloosa with a gap wedge from 92 yards.

Feb. 9, 2021 – Hillard South aced No. 5 at Cypress Lakes Golf and Tennis Club in Muscle Shoals twice in an 11-day span from, Jan. 29 to Feb. 9. South made both aces using a utility iron.

Tony Rutledge made a hole-in-one on No. 18 at Tennessee Valley Country Club using a 5-hybrid.
