The Robert Trent Jones Lakewood Golf Club at Marriott Grand in Point Clear, Alabama, has had a long and storied past since its opening in 1947. Its two 18-hole championship courses, the Azalea and Dogwood courses, hosted the 2021 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship. The luxury hotel at Point Clear has hosted President Gerald Ford, Dr. Billy Graham and Bob Hope, among others.
Lakewood joined the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in 2005. It has several times been named to Golf Magazine’s “Best Golf Resorts in America.”
The Azalea Course was designed by Perry Maxwell and Ron Garl. The par 72 course ranges from 4,539 to 7,202 yards. The Dogwood Course was designed by Perry Maxwell and Joe Lee. The meticulously maintained 7,104-yard, 18-hole, par 72 Dogwood course wanders through pines, magnolias and ancient oaks.
The Marriott Grand Hotel and its courses are about 22 miles southeast of Downtown Mobile on the east side of Mobile Bay via Interstate 10 and U.S. Hwy. 98.
