Qualifiers for the 2026 U.S. Open will be held across the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, Japan and England, but only one will be held in Alabama, the USGA announced.
That one will be held at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail’s Silver Lakes (Backbreaker/Heartbreaker), \ in Gadsden on May 7, where four qualifying spots in final qualifiers to be held on May 18, May 25 or June 8,
The U.S. Open is being held at at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, in Southampton, N.Y., June 18-21.
Local qualifying, conducted over 18 holes at 110 sites in 46 U.S. states, Canada and Mexico, will take place between April 20-May 18. Those advancing players will join a group of locally exempt competitors in final qualifying, which will be conducted over 36 holes at 13 sites. Final qualifying will be held in England (May 18), Japan (May 25) and Canada (June 8) as well as 10 U.S. sites, the USGA said.
o be eligible, one must be an amateur with a handicap index not exceeding 0.4 or be a professional. Online player registration will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 8 a.m. CST and continue through Wednesday, April 8, at 4 p.m. CDT. Competitors can register at champs.usga.org.
