Venosdel to runto run AGA championships
Five tournaments at four stops on Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail sites highlight the 2025 Alabama Golf Association tournament schedule.
Men’s tournaments on the Trail include the state Four-Ball at Cambrian Ridge in Greenville and the State Amateur on the Senator Course at Capitol Hill.
Women’s tournaments on the Trail include the Women’s State Amateur, Senior/Super Senior Amateur on the Lake Course at Auburn’s Grand National and a two-person scramble, also at Grand National.
The Boys State Junior will be held at WynLakes Golf and Country Club in Montgomery, while the Girls State Junior will be held at Valley Hill Country Club in Huntsville.
Other tournament sites for men’s competitions include Musgrove Country Club, Highland Park Golf Course, Terrapin Hills Country Club in Fort Payne, Limestone Springs Golf Club in Oneonta and Steelwood Country Club in Loxley.
Anniston Country Club, Bent Brook Golf Course and Highland Park will host women’s events. The Country Club of Birmingham will host U.S. Junior Amateur qualifying in late May.

Venosdel hired as Manager of Golf Operations and Championships
JD Venosdel is the new manager of golf operations and championships at the Alabama Golf Association.
Venosdel, originally from Eagle, Idaho, will help run the day-to-day operations of the Golf Operations and Championships Department, manage the AGA volunteer program and Youth on Course Alabama, and provide assistance for the Southern Golf Association. Venosdel gained tournament administration experience through multiple P.J. Boatwright Internships with the Tennessee Golf Association and most recently as a tournament operations intern with the Southwest PGA Section which encompasses Arizona and Southern Nevada.
“The AGA is excited to welcome JD to the AGA team to enhance our entire organization,” ” AGA Executive Director Jeremy Gardner said in a news release.
“During our search, it quickly became clear that JD was the best fit and I am looking forward to watching him develop and expand his role.”
Venosdel received his undergraduate degree from Belmont University with a degree in Sports Administration. He is currently enrolled at Belmont in the Sports Administration graduate program and will graduate in the spring.
“I am thrilled to join the Alabama Golf Association as a manager of golf operations and championships,” Venosdel said. “I am eager to dive into the Alabama Golf Association and be able to bring our programs to new heights.”
